Tail Tale
Stop-motion animation short film completed in third year of University in Norwich.
Stemming from a personal experience I had walking home late one night, I turned a corner to see a fox coming up out of an underground car park. I stopped and it stopped. Then I sat down. And it sat down. We watched each other for about 5 minutes before it got up, turned and started away, looked back at me and then left.
The development of this piece went from involving a human character and a switch of perspective to a foxes point of view that was completely geometric, until it was finally simplified down to the short that it is today. The approach of using the camera as a night vision recording was a suggestion by my tutor Jon which I ended up loving more and more. The project ran over the course of about 6 months with puppet and set construction and tests taking the longest and the filming condensed down to only 2 days.
